Cake Marbré au chocolat blanc et thé Matcha- White chocolate & green tea marbled cake
I know it's another one of those countless cake which contain green tea & some other usual stuffs you often find on food blogs. Yet, if you keep chancing upon these recipes, it must mean something... It means that these recipes are worth a try & are fully appreciated!
I've used green tea in some of my baking before, & decided to make a marbled cake this time, after reading famous Bea's post. All I can say is that the cake lasted only for 2days, and I was astonished that even my brothers who usually don't really enjoy Matcha powder, are the ones who finished it!
Ingredients
- 3 large eggs
- 180g plain flour
- 80g white chocolate
- 120g unsalted butter
- 120g sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 tsp green tea powder/ Matcha tea
- 1 tsp baking powder
Procedure
- Melt the butter. Place the chocolate in a bowl over a pot of simmering water and let simmer until the chocolate is melted. In the bowl of a stand mixer, place the eggs with the sugar and beat until it is white in color, then remove.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder and add it to the egg/sugar preparation, mixing manually with a whisk. Add the salt and butter and mix.
- Divide the batter in 2/3 and 1/3. Add the melted chocolate to the 2/3 batter and the matcha tea to the 1/3 batter.
- Preheat your oven at 350 F. Grease or line a rectangular cake pan with parchment paper and add half of the chocolate batter. Continue with the matcha tea batter and finish with the other half of the chocolate batter. Take a fork and pass it through the different layers of batter.
- Cook your cake for 45 mins, or until the blade of a knife comes out dry when inserted in the cake. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few mins before unmolding.
p.s: sorry about this short post. It's hard getting back into the routine of work after 1 month of great holidays. Somebody help me!!!

Oh my! You read my mind! Do you know that I was just saving Bea's recipe for this exact same cake and then I decided to come over here because I knew you made the cookies and the muffins...and what do I see? The very same cake I had just been thinking I would use my matcha on! This is fate!!! :)
I can imagine sitting with a cup of coffee and a slice of this cake, reading a book in a stolen hour in the afternoon....
What beautiful marbleing. It turned out quite lovely and elegant. Another great tea time snack.
As Kelly said, great tea time snack. I won't mind a slice right now :)
I thought this cake looked familiar. It's just lovely, Valentina. I wish I could savor a piece right now with my cup of tea.
I wish I could stop for tea!!!
I remember this recipe well... You have done a wonderful job with Bea's recipe!! Love the look of your cake
Joey: I can't believe what you're telling me! Yes, it's fate;P

Wow your brothers are lucky to have a sister like you, treating them with good food every week. Glad to come across your blog since I plan to learn to cook. I will have more time to browse it during the weekend. Have a great weekend. GOD bless u, Pierre
I love green tea, and baking a cake with it sounds like a fine idea to me. Of course you were inspired by Bea - she can make anything look fabulous. But your brothers don't need her - they are lucky to have you!
Hello Pierre, thanks a lot, how did you come across my blog?
God bless you too:)
Hi Toni, thanks for the kind words, though this cake wouldn't have been done without Bea!:)
The loaf is beautiful, Valentina, and you make even more curious about the tea!
White choc and green tea - that sounds devine. Your cake looks so moist, no wonder it took only two days for it to vanish!
Getting back into teh work routine is always hard. Hang in there!
Thanks Pat!
Nora: it IS a great combination, you should try it too!
